Leon Jacobs shoots new Sanlam spot like clockwork

Giant Film's Leon Jacobs has just completed his second Sanlam production for The Jupiter Drawing Room. The idea illustrates very simply that time equals money and how allocating just one hour's pay every day will provide for one's future.

Jacobs says: "I had this idea that every cut in the film should be the same length, to make the passage of time real for the viewer. We ended up with something that resembled a giant clock, with the newspaper press as the hour hand and the human as the second hand."

The end result is a captivating piece of film that makes the viewer feel how finite man's labour is. It makes the point about planning for the future simply and effectively.

PJ Kensley, creative director at The Jupiter Drawing Room says: "The Sanlam Sky board is one with a simple, but extremely powerful message. We were looking for a treatment that not only handled this message sensitively, but also beautifully. Leon over delivered on both accounts. The end result I believe is a commercial that client, production house and agency can be extremely proud of."

Cindy Gabriel, executive producer at Giant is very pleased with the way Leon's reel is shaping up: "Leon's treatments are always very brave. He has a conceptual approach and a film savvy eye."

The commercial starts flighting on August 1.
