Oasys bonanza at Indaba

Oasys Innovations, the country's leading infrastructure supplier for exhibitions and events, struck a bonanza at this year's Indaba show in Durban with a record number of stands designed and built for various companies in the public and private sector.

Says Kevin Kennedy, Oasys Innovations Group Chief Operating Officer: “This event underscores how our Head Office in Johannesburg and our regional office in Durban can work together seamlessly as one project management team and delivered sixteen designer stands with a total surface area of 1025m². Five project managers from Johannesburg worked closely with the project teams from Durban to design and install the stands. All five our activation companies were co-opted to showcase well known brands in South Africa's tourism and hospitality sector.”

Kennedy says that against the background of South Africa being appointed preferred host for many international events, symposiums and conferences as a destination, all the provinces and tourism related organisations are competing to get a slice of the wallet of potential visitors. “We secured the contracts from blue-chip companies such as Gauteng and Free State Tourism Authorities, Johannesburg Tourism Company, South African Airways, Thebe Tourism, Cradle of Humankind - to mention a few. Overall this event proved yet again that our exhibitions and events industry, from an organiser, venue and supplier point of view, can compete against the best in the world and the interest from international visitors confirms that we are doing the right things at the right time.”

Brian Prowling, Oasys Chief Operating Officer in the Durban regional office: “Our regional involvement in Indaba is not a situation of Oasys Johannesburg being the upstream supplier and our KZN team as being the downstream taker. We have a multi-million Rand inventory with strategic components that were supplied for many of the sixteen stands. In addition we secured our own business with stands for KZN Tourism, Durban Tourism, Hilton Hotel Group and Unitrans which we designed and built in Durban.”
