IRF 2011 was held at the ICC in Durban with the Primary Design stand award going to Sygnia Asset Management. Sygnia is a South African financial services company specialising in multi-management and fund of funds management. The stylish exhibit comprised of designer details and the most beautiful graphic material. Sygnia's investment services and technology solutions were illustrated and visitors also enjoyed the wonderful aroma of coffee being served.
Omigsa took the award of Primary Functionality - an exhibit that has added value to client over the last few years through modification to suit objectives. The 2011 exhibit changed cosmetically providing a clean, purist platform. The reception counter with AV against a neat backdrop adjacent to the minimalist meeting area represented various business units at Old Mutual.
The Secondary Functionality award went to Vunani Fund Managers who staged a very clever visitor engagement platform. Based on the game show, Minute to Win It
, contestants were given a minute to participate in challenging games of chance. Live show elements were integrated into the stand design as a themed backdrop. The activation concept was very successful in creating atmosphere and encouraged visitor participation.
Another feature at the expo was the Sanlam Employee Benefits exhibit with a very thought provoking message. A combination of Sanlam corporate meets Ocean's 11 showcased activation around a roulette game. The tongue-and-cheek campaign illustrating that a lack of retirement planning was like gambling with the future. We created an environment likened to a casino interior complete with roulette wheel on a gaming table. The exhibit created an impact through the use of a blue colour palette, mirror detail, accent lighting and an overhead structure suspended five metres above the stand. The equivalent of 15 km of white tassel detail was used on the structure.
The Institute of Retirement Funds Conference and Expo is the largest gathering of stakeholders from across the country's retirement landscape including leading academics, fund managers and representatives from government, labour and the private sector.
