|As World Cup sponsors, Yingli Solar were able to showcase their brand and educate fans about their products at Soccer City Stadium, Johannesburg.|
The use of wood, bamboo and other local materials contributed towards the lowering of the overall carbon footprint of the display. The display included an operating building integrated PV system using Yingli Solar semi-transparent laminates. The total rated power of the system is 1.2kWp.
If the system were to remain at Soccer City Stadium for a full year, it would generate approximately 1500kw hours of electricity and would offset nearly 1.5 tons of coal equivalent carbon-dioxide. Alternatively it would offset the carbon emissions equivalent to driving a family car for over 10 000km. XZIBIT will ship the display to China to be showcased as a company legacy of the 2010 World Cup event.
