The global Product of the Year concept was brought to South Africa to recognise brands that apply innovation and imagination in bringing new products to the consumer. The top products are voted for by consumers, with research conducted by The Nielson Company as well as support from the
Sunday Times, The Creative Counsel and the backing of the global Product of the Year brand.

Research, in the UK, has shown that winning the award and getting the opportunity to use the logo in different ways can increase sales and deliver a significant return on investment.
