Sanlam Private Investments CE to examine investment for high net worth individuals at Wealth Summit

The often complex, enigmatic and elusive world of South Africa's wealthy will be examined at a two-day conference in Sandton in March. Among the leaders from the wealth and management space who will address the first South African Luxury Association (SALA) Wealth Summit, is Daniël Kriel, Chief Executive of Sanlam Private Investments - a key event sponsor. The high profile speaker line-up includes FNB CEO Michael Jordaan and Samuel Seeff of Seeff Properties.
Kriel has been at the helm of SPI - a key sponsor of the event - since 2005. Under his leadership the niche business within the Sanlam Group has evolved from a successful stockbroking business to full-service international investment and wealth manager with a presence on 4 continents. The SPI suite of wealth management solutions includes investment advice and integrated international fiduciary and tax services. Innovations such as the launch of South Africa's first art advisory service and bespoke Shariah-compliant equity portfolio have ensured its client offering is rich and diverse.

Kriel's focus at the Summit will be on building wealth through investments as he shares his views on the local private client landscape within a broader global context, highlighting the increasing complexity of comprehensive wealth management, including fiduciary and tax structuring and family office needs. He will also unpack current investment themes such as the role of diversification, and the performance of different asset classes, singly and in combination, as well as geographic diversification and different market and regional returns.

"We see the SALA Wealth Summit as a fantastic opportunity to examine the high net worth market, which continues to grow despite challenging economic and market conditions. Traditionally, there has been limited information on this market due to its discreet nature, but with high net worth individuals increasingly seeking new investment opportunities, and the global financial downturn presenting more such opportunities, it is clear an event like this will deliver keen relevance and insight.

"We recognise the direction wealth management is taking globally, with a growing need from clients for a holistic approach to their wealth portfolios," explains Kriel. "The Wealth Summit creates a platform which will allow for the sharing of industry innovation, trends and thought leadership in order to identify opportunities as well as obstacles for businesses within the high net worth market."
