Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa takes three top awards

Brad Jansen, MD of Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa, was recently awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2010 at the Havas Sports & Entertainment Global Leadership Meeting held in Barcelona, Spain.
In addition, Jansen shared an award with Havas Sports & Entertainment France for outstanding work on the Louis Vuitton Trophy Case FIFA 2010 World Cup™ campaign. The Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa agency was also nominated as Agency of the Year within the Havas Sports & Entertainment network. The network is made up of over 400 dynamic individuals in 25 offices across five continents. To be recognised with a top accolade speaks volumes for how far Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa has come in such a short period of time (they only opened their doors two years ago .

Although still a young company, Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa has made a massive impact on the industry in South Africa and is making its presence felt. Their clients include Disney, Louis Vuitton, Volvo, Reckitt Beinckiser and Citroen to name but a few. Jansen said, "We develop fresh and original communication solutions that leverage the power of sport and entertainment to achieve goals for brands by creating genuine experiences or content for their consumers."

The work produced by Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa on the Volvo Naughty Convoy also led to them being shortlisted for the Catalyst Awards, at the Havas Media Group award where cases, strategies and media campaigns are evaluated to determine the best work in the field in all countries they serve. MarĂa Elena Velasco, director of public relations media agency MPG, explained that it is an assessment which involves all the Group's business units: MPG (Media Planning Group), Havas Digital and their companies, Havas Sports & Entertainment and Arena Communications. "This work is carried out by a jury of distinguished professionals from different business units in each country, who form a single jury."

A record number of 80 entries were received for the 2010 competition with only 25 of the best entries shortlisted. The winners were announced in April. Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa cleaned up the opposition and the Naughty Volvo Convoy Campaign was awarded the acclaimed Honorary mention.

Lucien Boyer, President and Global CEO of Havas Sports & Entertainment said, "We are very happy for Brad and the team in South Africa. After delivering top quality services around FIFA World Cup 2010™ for clients like Louis Vuitton, the French Football Federation and the Grupo Gruma from Mexico, we are more than confident they will consolidate business in 2011. Since the creation of the agency in 2009, they have always been a pillar of our network, constantly providing innovative ideas and extraordinary insights we leverage in other markets. The different awards they managed to win in so little time are a concrete recognition of tremendous team work and a genuine vision of how we can help brands connect to their consumers in our core business of sports and entertainment."
