Prezence Digital transforms access for Eye Witness News

Prezence Digital, one of Africa's most prominent full service digital agencies, is proud to have provided the technological expertise behind the successful launch of the new Eye Witness News mobi-site, which is changing the way South Africa stays on top of current affairs.
According to Effective Measure, the world leading online audience measurement firm, the mobi-site has shown significant growth in traffic of 570% since its launch in March.

"The market-leading mobile platform provided to us by Prezence Digital continues to enable the EWN team to deliver breaking news to South Africans wherever they are and whenever they want it. Currently serving in excess of 38,000 unique users per month we are confident that our mobi-site will continue to grow significantly," Katy Katopodis, EWN editor-in-chief.

Chief technology officer of Prezence Digital Tim Bishop says to truly harness the brand engagement opportunities that a mobile platform provides, it is important to make sure that EWN's content is widely accessible. "When designing for mobile you need to bear in mind that not all mobile phones are created equal," says Bishop. "If you consider that South Africa has close to 7500 different handsets - a 'one size-fits-all' approach simply doesn't work."

To ensure that the broad spectrum of the EWN market has seamless access to the news service, Prezence Digital used their bespoke Handset Content Adaptation (HCA) technology. "HCA is possibly the most important attribute of any user-friendly mobi-site due to its ability to automatically detect which cell phone is being used and then adapt the content to suit the user's phone,' explains Bishop.

"So whether the user has an older feature phone or the latest smart phone, this technology ensures that they have the best possible access to all EWN news updates while they are on the go," adds Bishop. "Ultimately, by delivering an excellent user experience you engender your relevance and brand loyalty."

EWN, a division of the Primedia Broadcasting, airs on Talk Radio 702, 567 Cape Talk, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5 KFM. To access the mob-site, visit www.ewn.mobi and discover our new site for yourself.
