How do you lose a bowling ball?

It's hard to get away from buzz words like "team" - not that we want to, it's just an observation. During- and since the economic crunch, really boring guys in shiny grey suits with poofy moustaches stood behind lecterns and told people how they should stand together to make their teams stronger. We liked that guy. We just thought we had a better way to garner some kick-ass enthusiasm from a collective of personalities like the mad mixture we have in our office.
So we launched the LimelightSA bowling league and formed two teams - the Breakers and the Strikers! We wanted to make sure we took this absolutely seriously so we briefed Shaun, our Creative Director and Mario, our Production Guru, and got ourselves some fancy team artwork and had it shroud on some cool collared shirts. All kitted out and ready to rumble, we set the stakes high and came up with the three C's for bowling brilliance!

Competence: "Does the team feel that it is at the appropriate level for participating?" Absolutely not! But it's better than golf because no matter how bad you are or how hard you try, you can't lose a bowling ball.

Clear Expectations: "Has executive leadership clearly communicated its expectations for the team's performance and expected outcomes?" Correct! The communication is clear: Even if you don't knock a lot of pins down, be sure to strike a pretty pose!

Context: "Do team members understand why they are participating on the team?" They do. They get to hug a lot more than normal, high-five each other with gusto and scream for drinks when offered.

Now that the Breakers and the Strikers are warmed up, we're looking to go large! Have you got a team that's good enough to take on one of ours? We doubt it, but we'd like to hear from you if you think you do! We might even share some of our bowling brilliance with you before we get started on our 'Back Swing', weighing in with our 'Anchor Man' and showing off with our 'Follow Through' (we're extra cool because we know lots of terminology and stuff).

"Making teams more productive is a constant issue for most managers," says Ilya Adler, published in Business Mexico. He must say that because Mexico is a little far for us to show them how to circumnavigate that problem altogether. Work-life balance is very important to us at LimelightSA and we know that smiles on faces makes the work-race an easy win.

We look forward to seeing you at the bowling alley!

You're invited!
