Avis sees red

Red attracted red when Avis appointed Gloo Digital Design as its digital partner last week after a nationwide pitch process. Avis briefed a variety of leading agencies for solutions to brand messaging, consumer interaction and online sales during its three-round process of exploring credentials and strategic presentations. Issued by Ogilvy PR (on behalf of Avis)
Yoav Tchelet, E-Commerce manager at Avis says; "Gloo outshone the rest and was chosen as a result of its strategic marketing insight and creative ability. We are very excited to have them onboard."

Gloo is a natural fit for Avis. As the leading car rental company in South Africa, Avis has one of the newest fleets and widest service offerings in the industry. In addition to being the first car rental company in South Africa to be certified carbon neutral, Avis was recently awarded the Sunday Times Top Brands Award for "Best Car Rental Company" for the seventh consecutive year.

Gloo is South Africa's Agency of the Year for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 and offers full service creative and strategic solutions across the national growing digital landscape.

Avis is a robust win for Gloo and Pete Case, Creative Director and Founder of Gloo says, "The team looked well beyond the brief to seek solutions to the on and offline Avis brand. Aside from the win, it looks like some of our pitch work will actually make it to production. This is unusual in the normal pitch scenario, but a great sign of the teams already being on the same page."

"The addition of Gloo into Avis' agency mix is yet another example of how Avis is strategically selecting tactical and progressive agency suppliers to position the brand as a force to be reckoned with and create longstanding partnerships," concludes Tchelet.

Avis' agency partners include Ireland Davenport, which recently won the SA Tourism account, and Initiative Media, which was selected "Media Agency of the Year" in 2009. Other partnerships include Ogilvy Public Relations, Marot & Sanders and Ideaology - all powerful relationships.
