SA will get its own version of the international CA World conference and expo in February, when CA Southern Africa and partners stage the IT Management Symposium Africa 2011 from 2 to 3 February at the Sandton Convention Centre.
CA World is a networking and knowledge-sharing opportunity for customers and partners of CA Technologies abroad, and the first local version will attract several hundred delegates interested in optimising IT management. The conference component will be produced by ITWeb's Events division, and the expo component by Event Organisation.
CA Southern Africa MD Gary Lawrence says: "I always wished more of my colleagues, customers and partners could attend CA World, so here we are, albeit after ten years."
Lawrence says for the past ten years, a contingent from Africa has attended CA World every year. "In every instance, these individuals are blown away with the size and scale of the event and gain huge value from networking with other IT management professionals, listening to experiences from other organisations, meeting with CA experts to understand product direction, listening to world-renowned speakers as they articulate industry, technology and market trends, view and get hands-on access to the latest IT management and associated products and services."
The localisation of the event is long overdue, judging by the huge response from local delegates who have registered to attend the event since it was first announced by ITWeb just over a week ago.
Lawrence says because CA is the largest company dedicated to IT management in SA, the event will aim to deliver a broader awareness of what IT management is and the role and importance of effective IT management in ensuring a successful business.
He says the event aims to foster the understanding that local companies are world class when it comes to providing IT services, and will stimulate innovation in dealing with specific local challenges - such as bandwidth constraints.
The expo will showcase the latest IT management technology, services and concepts from CA and its partners, and will give them direct access to CA executives and product specialists from around the world.
Lawrence notes that CA supplies more than 90% of SA's blue chip companies with technology and expertise, and has experienced significant growth in all areas, especially in its services business.
