Exp SA was voted the Specialist Agency of the Year at the Financial Mail AdFocus Awards, held in Johannesburg recently.
According to AdFocus, Exp SA can now confidently trumpet something its competitors can't - it is the first agency in its sector to become the AdFocus Specialist Agency of the Year. This award was won by experiential agency WVW last year.
Exp's award was attributed to company's growth in the past year, which included improved revenue by 26% and new business income of 34% in a period immediately after the 2010 FIFA World Cup when tough economic conditions and World Cup "hangover" saw many big brands cut back on spend.
"This is an incredible achievement for us and it is wonderful to be recognized in a category which in my mind is one of the broadest and most competitive, in the sense that it encompasses a number of disciplines, namely; Sponsorship, Brand Activation, PR and Specialist Eventing," said Exp SA Chief Executive Officer, Sandile Ndzekeli.
"The truth is, without our clients we don't have a business. The success we've enjoyed in the past year is largely attributed to our clients and the amazing team of people we have at Exp, who have delivered outstanding campaigns whilst focussing on growing the business," continued Ndzekeli.
Another contributor to Exp's growth has been the decision to broaden its service offering by setting up an independent Public Relations Division in addition to the existing sponsorship and brand activation business units. The PR division has picked up a number of new clients and contributed meaningfully to the bottom line.
As a whole, the business has grown through a combination of acquiring new clients and by organically expanding existing accounts in both the sponsorship and brand activation space.
