“BBBEE is a strategic imperative for Imperial Logistics. Achieving a Level Four rating is a significant milestone for us, and the result of diligent team work,” says Marius Swanepoel, Chief Executive Officer, Imperial Logistics. “We started the process two years ago and are committed to continuously pursue all facets of transformation and empowerment, improving the lives of our employees, while adding additional value for all our customers.”
With a Level Four rating and a BBBEE Procurement Recognition Level of 125%, Imperial Logistics offers each and every one of its customers the opportunity to claim points and the benefit of improving their BBBEE rating. For every R1.00 spent on dealing with Imperial Logistics, 1.25 points can be earned.
Imperial Logistics' BBBEE rating also adds significant capacity to the company in the areas of employment equity, skills development, preferential procurement, enterprise development and socio-economic development. Skills development is part of Imperial Logistics' culture and involves training of historically disadvantaged individuals to qualify for positions up to and including executive level, mentorship, coaching and apprenticeship programmes for employees, students and recent graduates.
“We are passionate about BBBEE and see it as a crucial component of the broader transformation taking place in our country,” says Sibongile Zikalala, Transformation Director, Imperial Logistics. “Our objective is to be a Superior BBBEE Contributor in the foreseeable future.”
Furthermore, Imperial Logistics sponsors various community programmes including HIV/AIDS initiatives that among others also benefits our employees. More than 5800 black employees were trained in a variety of skills development programmes. In October 2008, the Ministry of Labour recognised Imperial Logistics' endeavours with a Good Practice in Skills Development Award.
