Galaxy World hosted the ABF's first "Go Green" Ten Pin Bowling event at the end of July at The Zone, Rosebank. This event is the latest in many events to continually raise funds for the ABF ensuring ongoing support for the advertising, media and communications industries.
True to the 'Go Green' theme, all sixteen teams arrived ready for action in their eco-friendly gear. The competition was tough but in the end it was the team from Websend who received the ABF Ten Pin Bowling Trophy. Second prize went to the team from NAB (Newspaper Advertising Bureau) with Pocket Media receiving third place.
Sharlene Vallance of the ABF says, "Never would I have imagined that we would get this many sponsors interested, excited, involved and supportive of this event, but much to the ABF's delight, many came out in support of our cause. Khoja Group supplied our incredible floating trophy along with the medals for our top three teams. These teams also received a bottle of wine for each player, with our 3rd place team walking away with Jenna Clifford Homeware, our 2nd place winners walked away with skincare gift bags and our 1st place winners received James Blunt Concert tickets from Big Concerts."
The Best Dressed prize went to Pocket Media who were covered in glowing green from head to toe - their prize was double movie tickets sponsored by Cinemark. The 'Team Spirit' accolade went to NAB who each received a bottle of wine from Sale.co.za for their camaraderie.
The best male bowler came from the winning team, Greg Wickstrom from Websend, who received a night's accommodation at Mabalingwe's Kudu Camp in a six sleeper chalet. "The ABF's very own Syndi walked away with the best female bowler and will be having a dress designed by Tony from Umoya fashions to reward her bowling skills," says Sharlene.
The raffle draw winner, Kyle, entered five times and his persistence paid off when he found himself walking away with an HD PVR Decoder from DSTV. Primi Piatti provided a dinner voucher for our Gutter-Ballers while Kitten Emporium and Electronic Arts supplied wonderful spot prizes.
Last but not least The Media Shop assisted by providing delectable delights from Vicky Crease.
"Once again a huge thank you to our sponsors Primi Piatti; Umoya; The MediaShop; Cinemark; Big Concerts; Mabalingwe, CNBC Africa; Sale Wine; The Khoja Group; Jenna Clifford; Electronic Arts; DSTV; Kitten Emporium; Galaxy World and Trynie. We look forward to an even bigger and better event at the next one!"
