On Wednesday evening EXSA celebrated this year's Award winners at a glittering ceremony held at Montecasino. The EXSA Awards evening - the "Oscars" of the industry - brought together over 350 guests including industry leaders from all over the country to celebrate the incredible stand designs in various categories, the best exhibitions of the year and the best venues and personnel in the industry. MC John Walland congratulated all the winners and prizes were handed out by EXSA Chair, Nigel Walker; Vice-Chair, Natalie Naude; Venue Forum, Mati Nyazema; Western Cape Chair, Megan Arendse; and Sandy Angus from Montgomery UK. Pippa Walker handed out the "Green Awards" prizes for this new category introduced to the Awards for the first time this year. Tender Mavundla, ex Idols finalist from 2007, entertained the audience with her incredible voice. "It was a really fabulous evening and a time when the industry celebrates all the hard-work and efforts put into all the exhibitions held throughout the year. EXSA was delighted to inform its members recently that SARS has extended their VAT ruling whereby they are able to zero-rate VAT for international clients for EXSA members ONLY until September 2015. This ruling has been met with much appreciation at the EXSA offices. The Global Competiveness Report was recently issued at the World Economic Forum, and recovery from the economic crisis is tentatively coming through. The competiveness of South Africa has increased from 2011. The report ranks a country's overall competiveness on economic performance, business efficiency, government efficiency and infrastructure.
