Launched in 2005, The Baby Expo™ has grown in leaps and bounds. The expo started out as the Your Baby Show™ and debuted at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg in May of 2005. The first expo attracted over 21 000 people throughout its four day duration, and showcased the more than 100 exhibitors.
Since then, The Baby Expo™ has had a name change for 2008 and has grown to include the Baby Expo Durban and the Baby Expo Cape Town in 2007.
The Baby Expo™ is the brain child of Projeni Pather, marketing director of Exposure Marketing and Communication. “I started the expo because at the time there was nothing else on the market and as a first time mom myself I was looking for some sort of event where I could easily access the information I needed and interact with other moms as well as the distributors of baby products,” says Projeni. “Once I get an idea in my head it's very hard to stop me and so the Your Baby Show™ was born.”
The focus of The Baby Expo™ has always been to exhibit healthy living for South African families of today and provide parents and parents to be with latest information and innovative products on the market.
“Our aim has always been to provide a communication and education platform for the parents and parents to be out there. The success of The Baby Expo™ since its introduction is evidence that there was a definite need in the market for an expo of its kind,” says Projeni.
In its four years of existence, The Baby Expo™ has proven itself to be the leader in the consumer baby and parenting sector. It is by far the biggest and most successful baby and parenting exhibition on the South African events calendar, and provides superior quality visitors, first-class big and small name exhibitors and outstanding organisation and creativity.
