Bashni Reddiar has been appointed as general manager of the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI).

Reddiar has vast marketing and project management experience, having worked in the tourism sector for many years. Previously she was sales manager responsible for corporates and professional conference organisers at the Sandton Convention Centre and most recently she was sales and marketing manager for Mercure Hotels in South Africa.

She has served on the committee of the northern territories branch of SAACI and is currently enrolled for a post-graduate diploma in events management with the University of Cape Town. She has established contacts with various tourism bodies and associations.

She took up her position on 1 April 2008.
