We've seen this all before

Whilst it is executed quite nicely, there is nothing fresh or new about this ad. A bunch of people/models just doing their thing with prices dropped over. I think I saw this first in the 70's and repeated ever since. Not the usual Woolies offering. Disappointing. Must try harder!7 Jul 2009 14:55

Well then, lets stop trying to be creative

Lets just find old commercials and rehash them and see how much it sells. It's worked before - why not again? It seems to be the new form of advertising. The new Rainbow chicken commercial that people like so much is an old ad rehashed. The Gold Lion winner at Cannes this year is ripped off from an American spot shot in Grand Central from the camera angles to the actions of the cast. Is this the way advertising is going now?

I have had comments on this site telling me that 'it is not where it came from, but where you take it'. I guess nothing is new, but then lets stop kidding ourselves that it is. Lets admit that we are just rehashing.9 Jul 2009 09:35

l'm a marketing student and l've always been a fan of woolworths when it comes to their ads,unfortunately this has done nothing for me. lt seems as if they only cater for skinny models. l would love to see them use fuller figure women in their ads, l can bet that their sales will increase more.13 Jul 2009 12:53

I wish fashion retailers would start looking at some of the creative advertising internationally, like Target, H&M, M&S etc. I know that Edgars have started going this route, and you can really do great retail ad's in this category.13 Jul 2009 16:42
