Brilliant Ad " Jaiva Nathi" brings a smile to my face everytime  by  Mizo

This ad is brilliant, I agree. This category is boring but they have managed to stand out from the clutter. I like the way that they have blended the Brenda Fassie - old skool song with dancing from generation to generations, You see O'madala dancing, u see young hip guys dancing the chicken dance. "Jaiva nathi" this ad is simply brilliant.

Whenever it comes on my neice who is 8 years old together with a cousin of mine who is 17 just laugh and dance along. This is such a great ad, i;m really lost for words. The song is on point, the dancing is also on point. Its just a fun, funny, warm add, that brings a smile to your face everytime it comes on. Also the ad is not boring but entertaining and I look foward to seeing it every day on TV. I am a marketer myself and I do think that there is an opportunity to extend the campaign even further by leveraging the success of this advert and maybe do dance off competitions at "Taxi ranks" township malls etc.. and consumers can win rainbow hampers. This would add to the campaign, making sure that they take advantage of its popularity....

Oh, one other thing, they got the target market spot on.... this is brilliant work.

When you've all finished saying how wonderful this ad is - it is an old ad redone

This was done in the States at least 20 years ago for a Chicken product and won a lot of awards. Are we just redoing old work in SA these days, because I see an awful lot of ads that are just rehashes of old stuff. And frankly without any attempt to make it different.

Just as the Cannes Gold Lion winner is a rip off - is this the new 'style' of advertising or is it OK because the market that saw the award winner years ago has moved on and this market won't know it? Those of us that have been around at least try to be creative and do work that is new and creative, not just a rip off.

However, I can see that this ad is popular and will hopefully sell a load of chicken, but there is nothing original about it.10 Jul 2009 09:01
