Late last week, Media24 launched its biggest community project to date when it announced the donation of R24 million worth of free advertising space in its magazines, newspapers and online titles to help make the dreams of 12 non-profit companies and 12 small businesses in South Africa come true.

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, recently voted as South Africa's coolest fundraising programme, reviews its year's contributions to South Africa's youth during Youth Month. Its initiatives include renovating an old container into an eco-friendly classroom, musical instrument donations to underprivileged schools and to providing radical makeovers for children's homes.

As winter sets in to its broadcast area, Jacaranda FM has begun its appeal to collect blankets and funds for the thousands of people who do not have blankets for winter. Its target is to break last year's collection of R3.2 million worth of blankets and cash from listeners, schools and companies across Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo.

The Bulelani Day Care Centre in Delft has risen from its humble beginnings, as two dilapidated shacks in the backyard of its principals' property, to a NGO registered Crèche with formal infrastructure and flooring. The ECHO for Children Foundation, with the help of their sponsors, undertook the task of painting the walls of Bulelani in order to brighten the overall atmosphere of the Crèche. The white, chromadeck panels provided the perfect blank canvas for local talented artist and social upliftment entrepreneur, Ricky Lee Gordon aka Freddy Sam of Write on Africa, to work his magic. This is not the first time that ECHO and Ricky have collaborated. They also joined forces in the collaboration of the adidas Originals 3 Stories, World Cup Campaign - which they went on to win a Silver Loerie Award for.

All the funding was raised for two needy educational charities, the 'Lupi Ngcayisa Foundation' based in Johannesburg and the `Philippi High School Project' based in Cape Town.
