Content is the key to radio's future, says Kagiso's Nick Grubb
Nick Grubb is basically supporting the concept that content is more important than the DJ's; of course it then means that radio stations are robots that dont have to pay out huge salaries to deserving DJ's. After working as a creative consultant to one of the top stations in the country there was a constant friction between management and the DJ's. From my years of experience I can say without a doubt that the creative performance of the DJ's is essential o the success of the station; it creates a bond (brand) between the station and its listeners.
Once again creatives are being undermined. Posted on 22 Feb 2012 22:24

Government-media relationship needs critical attention - study
The emphasis on 'paid with tax payers' money' is unfair. The focus should on the issue. Government is a world wide phenomenon and no country can run without political governance, it is a sector and a necessary institution. Yes, citizens should hold government accountable on governance issues.
Secondly, government employees pay taxes too...I pay a lot of tax and it hurts when I see how it is wasted at times Posted on 22 Feb 2012 09:36

Government-media relationship needs critical attention - study
The key thing to remember here is that government spokespeople are being paid with taxpayers' money to communicate what the government is doing with taxpayers' money and how it is measuring up to the electorate's expectations and its own promises. Journalists don't dream up stories but are actually acting on behalf of that electorate when people come to newspapers/TV and radio stations to help them with problems , often because these people feel that they can't get any joy out of their (elected) councillors or the authorities. So I'm not sure if journalists really have to feel empathy for spokespeople -- they rightly expect them to do their jobs... and respond to requests for comment professionally and, if possible, substantially in a way that will have real meaning to the readers and people who came to the journalists for help in the first place. Careers24 integrates with Placement Partner
Bear in mind that this is true integration, more than simply posting ads. Ad response is returned to the individual client's own recruitment system in a way that makes further processing of CV's easier for the recruiter. Posted on 21 Feb 2012 16:13

3rd degree
Good day,

We had it on good authority hat 3rd Degree is currently preparing a documentary on Metrorail to be aired soon. If true, we as Tshwane Train Sector, together with other comrades elsewhere in Provinces where Metrorail operates, united by the debilitating service that the current Management metes out to the general commuters populace, and having had our own battles with Metrorail Management on issues of appalling poor service and other pertinent issues, has a vested interest in this documentary and believe our Tshwane Train Sector Executive can add value in your 'no-nonsense' discourse show.
We are therefore making ourselves available for the show, with the express intention of presenting the commuters’ view unashamedly and fearlessly so!
Regards,
Cde Pat Monama

Oasys alliance with Gearhouse, gets preferred supplier status
Wow, this looks like serous collusion. What happened to competition. An alliance that makes it better to choose for a monoploy. I do not think these parties thought about the Competition Act before forming their alliance. They are dominant players and have apparently already shared markets, prices, information and assets. I wonder what the commission will say? Posted on 21 Feb 2012 15:01

What social media's leaderless revolutions have to gain from old-fashioned branding
Hi Maja,

The point is that they are leaderless in the traditional sense, they are not leaderless in the sharing world of the internet, remember in my talk I mentioned how decision making is made in the Occupy movement - by a massive consensus, which is how coordination happens online , with diggs and buries, with likes, with thumbs up and thumbs down, exactly the same with the occupy movement.

Brands are ideas - and ideas spread in different ways, even if occupy doesn't go on - the idea has spread.

I hope that you will be in my audience on thursday - i sent you an invite and I will expand a little more. Posted on 21 Feb 2012 14:40

Experts: electric vehicles will not reduce GHG emissions
That is true, but it would be easier in the long run to control 40 odd powerstation that a few million petrol cars, once the real cost of fuel per household be known, alternative energy sources could be more feasible Posted on 21 Feb 2012 13:51

Sustainable marketing, more than 'green'
I am a volunteer marketer selling gift bags made from waste paper by local women we have trained. I have learned the hard way that what you say is true - people don't want to know about the good cause which I thought would be the thing that mattered. I haven't figured out what that thing is.
