Outsurance - what a scam, their customer ignored a stop sign and crashed into me - i had right of way on a straight road. now Outsurance says i'm also responsible as i should've swerved from him. huh ????? Apparently outsurance does it all the time to avoid paying what they should and they are well known for doing people in, especially if you don't have insurance and can't afford to sue tem !!! thx, Richard Parker 082 4150282 Posted on 6 Jul 2012 09:42

Media and marketing industry can be unkind to newcomers
I feel like you just sang a song I wrote, but you are right, to survive in this industry you have to become a socialite. Marketing is not for the shy individuals, or you will be eaten alive. I'm still a student myself, and those are great points you made there, truly appreciated. Posted on 5 Jul 2012 15:30

The great internet radio swindle
As the internet gives birth to the product of many "Techi geni" types there are also a few "house wives" (amoungst others) that give out enough decent content to get a great stream of traffic through their internet sites. When my wife was advised through a Food24 article (end 2010)that she had, had 27000 hits (ON ONE DAY) to her blog as a result of what she does on her www.my-easy-cooking.com and rewrites at Food24. She was blown away.Number one most read article!! Many planets had to align to make this happen but she was proud to announce on National TV (Kwela) and inadvetantly said Hits instead of unique page views...........

This caused an "annonymous person" from "Somerset West" to virtually stalk us! Till Nina offered to sort out the misunderstanding over a cup of coffie and home baked scones..........we never heard from her again.

We know the difference now and articles like this will just empower the rest of us to be more factual. Thank you for taking the time! Posted on 5 Jul 2012 15:21

The great internet radio swindle
I worked for a radio station and even their listenerships are highly inflated. It's about advertising and getting people to invest in the station. That being said, I found web stats to be very misleading, it's annoying. I am asked to use various spam tools to determine a websites ranging world wide and the numbers differ from these tools like day and night- they don't tell you what the stats are based on either. Not much of an expert in the field- I would be interested to know how peer to peer networking, much of how radio stations are streamed, would influence the statistics? Posted on 5 Jul 2012 14:17

Thank you Mathew. Finally a voice of reason. It's easier to throw stones at others than it is to say "hell I did not truly understand, please explain it to me". This is a brand new industry in our country and mistakes MUST happen, that's how we grow and learn to do things better in the future. Posted on 5 Jul 2012 14:13

I tried so much to break through that i ended up in government writing statistics of diseases, its difficult and you have to be ready to get embarrassed and turned down like a dog.
I have not given up and still believe there are still opportunities for whole lot of upcoming guys and you just have to persist and network as hard as you can. Posted on 5 Jul 2012 14:03

The great internet radio swindle
That's the sanest, most even-handed and insightful article I've seen on this whole issue. Well said Matthew... You say "I think we have to realise there are no bad guys here, just an absence of understanding " in a new medium says it all. And I wonder if it hasn't already been eclipsed by services like SiriusXM. Posted on 5 Jul 2012 14:01
