Cell C readies for tough battle against rivals
Cell C’s network. Cell C sold its 50% shareholding in the company last year. So it has pockets for the value game? Posted on 7 Jun 2012 10:26

Cell C readies for tough battle against rivals
Does Cell C have the deeper enough pockets to play this game, or are they going to squeeze their distribution channel to foot the bill and lobby government to change legislation in their favor? Will be interesting to see. The value game is changing, wonder if they will pick up on the strategic levers as price on voice is not where it lies. Posted on 7 Jun 2012 10:03

Using social media as a customer service channel
"Customers also expect immediacy. They want answers in minutes or hours, not days or weeks, as businesses may have got away with in the past."

Companies will soon face the same issue as with traditional call center services: lack of staff and resources. So they will need to look at automation...

"They want to reach out to organisations they deal with by means of social media because they see it as a channel that is convenient, easy and transparent to use."

I agree that Twitter is insanely convenient - no need to wait for Web forms to load on flaky mobile networks or to wade through IVR menus. Which is why I believe self-service can successfully be offered over this channel. Check out http://developers.voiceobjects.com/2012/05/27/exploring-twitter-as-a-self-service-channel/ for some ideas around this. Posted on 6 Jun 2012 22:27

What are my consumer rights?
We bought furniture from a branch of a national furniture retailer chain in Bloemfontein 9 May 2012. Cash Deal R25 000. First, their delivery costs changed and then we had to struggle to get our money paid into their account (wrong reference numbers). After we paid the total amount (furniture and delivery costs) they informed us that the delivery cost increased. After two weeks of waiting we had to contact them to find out about our furniture. Then the manager claimed that they conveniently forgot about our transaction and there is no more stock available. When we made the transaction the salesperson reassured us there is stock and the furniture will be delivered within a week. We are still waiting after numerous calls made to the manager of the Bloemfontein branch and Head offices in Jhb. Their response is very poor and no one can reassure us that we will receive what we have paid for. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! Posted on 6 Jun 2012 21:34

Digital media shifts landscape for media planners
Much the same as what our own late marketing Guru John Farquhar said re print media about 8 years ago:
" When marketing to niche markets, high circulation and readership are no longer the only yardsticks with which to calculate media value..
.. SA marketers & their advertising agencies need to re-examine their selection criteria and fall in line with overseas practices. where brand strength and the qualitity of the audience attracted, take precedence over the numbers.
Communication effectiveness is now the key factor for media selection" Posted on 6 Jun 2012 17:29

Your the BOSS!... If only people would start looking at what is real and what is not in life. They might just get somewhere. And you would think after 19 years of this Goverments promises, lies, stealing and tourtouring their own people. There people would wake up and look into the faces of new people to guide them, or step up stand together and push those who are doing them harm out. Instead of Marching for nothing really meaningfull. Like really is that painting going to feed them tomorrow? Or Build them a house that will stay standing up when it rains? OR give them water from the tap? OR Electricity to light up the room to read at night or cook? OR schools to teach our children? OR Hospitals to help the hurt? OR WE can go on and on.........Promises! Promises!....never kept..But yet they still follow my leader.....who only thinks of a stupid painting that is just that. A stupid Painting. an an ad on TV is just an AD that say GO BUY CHICKEN AT NANDOS IN A FUNNY WAY. What you see and hear on ads people are just that ADS for you to go buy things.... don't read anything else into it. Becase their are more important things in life worth fighting for like your LIFE! Take a Girl Child to Work - successful for 10th year
I do not think this initiative is very effective and useful. I believe the program must be more structured with objectives and an agenda in mind. Every year partaking in this initiative at work, I find the girls are bored and disinterested in the opportunities which present itself. They have loud and disruptive chats amoungst themselves. I even find girls "sleeping on the job" due to disinterest and boredom. Posted on 5 Jun 2012 15:55

More Cuban doctors for SA is good news
If you truly value and honer these Cuban doctors ensure they get freedom.
These doctors are working in an abusive system that denies them the right to take their families with them and even to stay in South Africa should they chose to.
The largest part of their salaries goes to the Cuban regime that holds their families on the island as hostages for their return.
South Africa can not again build the well-being of part of its people on the suffering of others. Posted on 5 Jun 2012 15:11
