It is sad that local production houses are shutting down. however this also shows a heavy dependence on the SABC. How about M Net and looking outside SA for work? Posted on 7 Aug 2012 23:38

New software offers Private Property intuitive navigation
First? Maybe last yes.
Entegral launched their online management system (OMS) for real estate 7 years ago and it includes feeds to all the major property portals - and is used by national groups throughout South Africa.

Soft power is the new currency
Great article! A quick point of discomfort from me. Though we live in a world of apparent extremes, we need to avoid the temptation of switching from an extreme of `hard power' to that of `soft power'. though the two poles appear to be diametrically opposed (the mistake the world political powers made in 1990 and only realised it in 2000), they are complementary and interdepedent. The magic of marketing poetry comes in identifying that point of intersection that will yield a synthesis of "smart power" - this should become a mantra to marketers. Sometimes you may be forced to tactically galvanise some of your hard power resources to help you achieve your strategic soft power objectives. Reason? Because we live "in a period of flux". Micro-lenders have huge market opportunities - MFSA
Great article and good to see disruptive and more efficient business models replacing the ridiculously wide spread between borrowing and saving rates in the traditional banking system. These businesses, as credit providers into the wider economy, would also appear emminently more stable (not susceptible to bank runs) given their non-reserved natured.

I'm happy with that heightened risk for now as you can spread it across a lot of loans (if you take your time). In principle I think these are great initiatives and should be supported but they clearly carry more risk than a bank account. The inequitable tax treatment (if a loan defaults, you get no income tax deduction for those losses) should probably put off more people than it appears to. Current interest returns aren't that high at the more highly credit rated end of the market, especially once you allow for the tax you've got to pay and they provide little cover for losses if they do go bad.

Second thoughts, second life for ostriches
I have a solution to this, its called Eco-Lyte, we had a duck farm that was surrounded by ostrich farmers, he would lose 3 ducks a week from this h5n2 virus, after using our system he last his first duck after 3 months.

This is an article for every boss, owner, manager or the like to take note of...too many times people focus on the people outside of their business whilst losing sight of what is the most important facet of their business....their staff.

QR codes bring email, mobile coupons to life
Im not sold I'm afraid, not in marketing terms anyway. Although its starting to gain traction abroad it will soon be over shadowed by technologies such as RFID and NFC. For something like this to work it needs make the end users experience more convenient, QR does not truly achieve this. Posted on 6 Aug 2012 20:05
