Job description

To manage the total process of the marketing across the commercial department (focusing on cellular and financial services), ensuring the subsections work coherently together in line with Pep’s marketing strategy.

Key responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing the Pep marketing strategy in the commercial department
  • Accurate budget planning and implementation with attention to detail on monthly and annual reconciliation
  • Liaison and close interaction with internal account managers
  • Dealing with complexity of service offerings in the commercial department
  • Relationship building with third parties
  • Project management
  • Planning and coordination of promotional activities
  • Liaison with advertising agencies (briefing and debriefing of agency)
  • Development and presentation of post promotional reviews
  • Lead and manage a team of brand managers and coordinators

Required knowledge, skills, and competencies
  • Business degree/national diploma in marketing management (three+ years). Commercial degree (BCom or equivalent will be an advantage)
  • Good understanding of basic accounting and financial accounting is critical
  • Experience in cellular related products and financial services on either the product or marketing functions
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office
  • Five to eight years’ experience in marketing management, preferably in the retail industry
  • Advertising experience in an agency environment will be an advantage
  • Understanding of the LSM two-six market segments will be an advantage
  • Competencies required: proven marketing skills; communication skills (with high quality writing skills and excellent presentation skills); planning, organising and control; problem assessment; leadership and innovation
  • Willingness to travel. Own transport required
