Job description

  • Keeping a close eye on retail and editorial creative-locally and internationally
  • Researching both macro and micro fashion trends
  • Generating innovative creative concepts for internal direction and presenting to the team
  • Compiling and presenting storyboards to client
  • Travelling to JHB for client meetings with buyers, marketing team and  top management on merchandise direction and sign-off for upcoming issues
  • Conceptualising, presenting and styling fashion pages according to the brands aesthetic
  • In-depth understanding of client and target markets needs and expectations
  • Working closely with clients and  maintaining a strong, healthy relationship
  • Managing and mentoring a fashion assistant
  • Producing and  styling fashion editorials (castings, locations, putting together team, styling up grids and stories to present to the client)
  • Sourcing relevant merchandise in-store
  • Writing copy for fashion pages and  features
  • Generating content for clients and  their various International brands Instagram accounts
  • Pre-production admin for fashion shoots
  • Building good relationships with agencies, photographers and  hair and  makeup artists
  • Creating and  sending out fashion briefs to suppliers
  • Merchandise management
  • Assist Ad sales team in identifying and leveraging sales opportunities
  • Managing budgets- production budgets for all shoots, expensing petty cash for all shoots and doing fashion departments recons and ensure budget adheres to an allocation
  • Draw up costings when needed for additional image usages or special projects
  • Fashion lead on set and  image selection
  • Producing and shooting product stills
  • Organse permits and determines location details
  • Email model agencies, select models for castings, manage casting days, make model selections and manage optioning of models
  • Option teams and booked once all confirmed
  • Onset presence, sourcing props and styling while adhering to the brief and brand aesthetic


  • A minimum of two years' experience as Fashion Editor for a print magazine
  • True passion for fashion and related media industry
  • Able to identify and execute tasks in order of priority
  • Keen ability to study and observe fashion trends
  • Excellent multitasking capacity with ability to manage various projects and tasks
  • Able to work on own initiative and within a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Flexible approach to work while consistently performing in varied environments
  • Calm under pressure
  • Loyal, ethical worker with strong integrity
  • Adept at arriving at clear decisions and able to implement them timeously
  • Able to relate to and communicate with people of all nationalities, ethnicities and backgrounds
  • Own vehicle/drivers licence
  • Able to travel to JHB
