Job description

Ginkgo is looking for a confident, authentic and professional client advocate within our agency to manage our business relationships with our clients. This person should have a proven track record account management and be passionate about client service. The client success director maintains a deep knowledge of the clients’ business, industry and competition and is ultimately responsible for the overall success of the clients’ marketing programs.

Position summary:

Location: Johannesburg
Reports to: Managing director
Works with: Management team, project management and production team, content team, and finance team

Key deliverables:
  • Builds strong working relationships with clients
  • In-depth knowledge of client’s business, industry and competition
  • Drives the strategic direction of the account
  • Pitches and defends agency work, concepts and proposals
  • Ensures the work is on brand and achieves client goals

This role is responsible for providing strategically sound solutions to the clients’ business. The client success director, together with the managing director and senior management, will responsible for writing strategies and proposals and providing cost estimates and statements of work for clients, as well as continuously looking for opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell Agency value. The client success director understands all the solutions the Agency has to offer and knows how to package them up in the best way to solve the clients’ problems.  He/she will oversee on-time, on-budget, profitable and high-quality deliverables for projects delivered by the agency project managers.


Basic requirements
  • Minimum five of years experience in a similar role
  • Willingness to travel both locally and abroad
  • Relevant tertiary education
  • In-depth understanding of digital and social media, and content production
  • In-depth understanding of basic marketing principles and best practices
  • Proven track record of developing quality client service processes to improve client service efficiency
  • Experience in preparing strategies, plans, budgets, proposals, client presentations and client contracts
  • Proven track record of success building positive and productive relationships with clients, to as to ensure client retention
  • Proven ability to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of our client's products, competitors and business objective
  • Testimonials from previous clients will be advantageous
Technical skills
  • Able to produce all backend correspondence such as meeting reports, maintenance of client service database, and communication documents
  • In-depth understanding of the Consumer Protection Act and Protection of Personal Information Act
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google suite and iWork suites
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Experience using and managing project management software (Lean and Agile will be
  • advantageous)
  • Experience in using and managing time-tracking software
