Business Systems Engineer  

ENVIRONMENT:
A Cape Town based company requires a Business Systems Engineer with management information and data mining systems. Relevant computer qualifications equivalent to a Degree or Diploma and IBM AIX/Unix and Oracle specific courses is required. Minimum 2 years experience in an AIX Server environment and 3 years business systems support experience. Oracle database and JD Edwards experience is also required.

DUTIES:
1. IT Infrastructure:
-Monitoring and support of enterprise system environment.
-1st level maintenance of enterprise database and transaction processing systems.
-Implementation of business systems standards and procedures.

2. Operations:
-Monitoring and maintenance of enterprise system production processes and data.
-Problem analysis and solving for enterprise systems processing.
-Implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and backup systems.
-Support of users for business systems.

3. Facilities:
-Administration of facilities operations.

4. Projects:
-Project administration for business systems.
-Technical testing and recording.

5. General:
-Administration of enterprise systems procurement process.
-Interaction with other IT personnel/teams in the Group.
-Interaction with users in support of business systems.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Management information and data mining systems.
2. Relevant computer qualifications equivalent to a Degree or Diploma.
3. IBM AIX/Unix and Oracle specific courses.
4. Minimum 2 years experience in an AIX Server environment.
5. Minimum 3 years business systems support experience.
6. Experience in computer facility operations and working with contractors and suppliers.
7. IBM Server and AIX.
8. Oracle Database and JD Edwards experience.

ATTRIBUTES:
1. Ability to analyse and resolve user problems.
2. Ability to review system and database logs.
3. Ability to interact with staff and business partners.
4. Ability to help implement strategies.
