Account managers needed.

Oversee researchers and day-to-day project management to ensure the delivery and execution of projects that meet clients' needs

Financial management and business acumen:
  • Works with internal and external clients to identify cost effective solutions
  • Sets realistic/accurate budgets and forecasts; ensures they are monitored closely and corrective action taken
  • Uses commercial acumen to identify cost implications when making business decisions
  • Applies understanding of commercial and financial principles to costing recommendations on simple projects
Client development and management
  • Understands clients’ strategy and business drivers
  • Ensures relevant specialists/experts and external suppliers areas are drawn in to address client needs and improve delivery solutions
  • Keeps client/development aware of more complex project progress through regular updates
  • Displays a strong understanding of TNS service offerings across whole business to clients
  • Ensures knowledge of the clients organisations and market/industry is used to deliver actionable and impactful insights/growth summaries
People development and management
  • An effective leader and manager of people and team capacity
  • Monitor performance of the team as a whole and individual managers
  • Responsible for mentoring, training, and managing direct reports
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports
  • Responsible for initiating performance improvement plans where necessary of team members (include meeting all process requirements, meetings, documentation, records, etc.)
  • Ensure team members have objectives and development plans to support team goals and company strategy
  • Career mapping (management of each team member through objectives/smart goals)
  • Recognise team and individual achievement (including client feedback)
  • Identify skills gaps and growth potential of team members; provide on the job training
  • Monitor and manage workload, productivity and capacity within team
  • Prioritise project requirements and delivery by monitoring the input and outputs of the team
  • Allocate resources effectively
  • Continuous coaching on the job for all managers (e.g. how to manage conflict, how to resolve problems, how to approach queries on projects, how to best think about challenges on projects and with people)
Research skills

Proposal, design, costing, and sampling
  • Expert user of the costing system. Fully understands algorithms behind costing assumptions
  • Oversees management of projects to ensure expected profitability is achieved or improved
  • Is recognised internally as an expert in at least one area of delivery
  • Based on sound research knowledge and understanding, provide support on project, and logistic implications of different design approaches that results in a solutions for clients that is reasonable and achievable
  • Accurately set project costs (based on cost briefings)
  • Able to sign off on costs to a limited value
  • Realistic budgeting to ensure profitability
  • Maintain a constant focus on project profitability (including an awareness of time spent on each project)
  • Monitor and keep record of all project costs and budgets, thus being able to respond to any over-budget queries with confidence, detail and accuracy and maintain project profitability
  • Design the structure of the project sample such that samples are allocated accurately (and practically) to field managers (field) and supervisors (CATI)
  • Check samples prepared by Juniors, with an understanding of what the research should achieve
  • Understand all sampling approaches used in the company and their implications for project design, implementation, and research outcome
  • Ensure that trip plans are checked and that they have been accurately drawn to match the sample for a study
  • Ensure that field summary of costs (FSOC) are correctly drawn and signed off
  • Responsible for turning complex research approaches into workable and profitable solutions
  • Ensure questionnaire design and flow is accurate and relevant
Project management
  • Communicate brief, timings, deadlines, and all relevant project issues to all relevant parties
  • Proactively communicate project details with the relevant departments to ensure a common understanding of the objectives of a project
  • Ensures project details and timings are accurately communicated to various departments (working with juniors)
  • Efficiently plan, manage, and provide accurate and user friendly specifications to the relevant service departments
  • Determines tasks and actions for the team
  • Manages and evaluates team progress
  • Monitors timing schedules and assumes full responsibility for ensuring that deadlines and schedules are being
Analysis and insights
  • Ensuring client deliverables meet client expectations and needs; deliver excellence
  • Is able to develop strong relationships with all internal clients (at a senior level) based on trust in expertise and insight shown
  • Clearly and persuasively communicate complex issues, internally and externally
