Job description

Primary purpose of the role:

The primary role is of the head of digital strategy is to plan, implement and continuously improve execution of our client’s digital marketing strategies in line with their core objectives, by managing the entire production team including digital strategists, account managers, analysts and implementers across all channels.

You will collaborate with the team to create digital strategies through a combination of planning and strategy techniques, as well as business, market and consumer insights. You will aim to provide our clients with innovative digital approaches and solutions for their websites and digital campaigns.

Duties may include:
  • Manage the entire production team, including strategists, analysts, account managers and implementers.
  • Ensure that detailed online market research into the client, industry and competitor market is carried out.
  • Ensure that the client’s digital assets are audited against the market opportunities, while assessing the effectiveness across each asset.
  • Identify opportunities for clients to use digital to enhance their overall marketing mix and provide strategic direction in regards to website, landing pages, content and editorial plans as part of an integrated digital strategy.
  • Serve as a digital strategy advisor to both clients and account managers across all areas of digital marketing.
  • Strategize with internal or external channel specialists to develop strategic digital marketing plans for all relevant digital channels and tactics, including websites, content marketing, social media, search marketing automation, email, etc.) into an actionable plans that are aligned with campaign and business objectives.
  • Present digital marketing strategies to clients and identify new business opportunities with client together with the relationship and account managers.
  • Ensure effective implementation and management of the client’s strategy while ensuring that best practices are carried out across all digital channels.
  • Oversee the project and production management of all online initiatives as promised to clients.
  • Own, manage and utilise Google Analytics as it relates to our clients strategy and measurables and create competitive benchmarks and establish online KPIs for each client across all digital channels, and ensure that proper measurement tools are in place to accurately monitor and measure against the KPIs; and ensure effective tracking through all digital channel. Evaluate and refine all performance reports to present to clients.
  • Remain abreast of global best practices, policy changes and compliance guidelines across all key channels - including Search, Social, Display, email and mobile – and community important updates and changes to internal implementation teams, management and clients.
  • Continuously research, identify, source and recommend affordable software or tools to ensure more streamlined processes and productivity with the organisation and as it may relate to the client’s strategy.
  • Contribute to BlueMagnet’s own internal digital marketing strategy.

Company Description

  • A bachelors degree in marketing or similar.
  • A tertiary qualification in digital marketing.
  • A minimum of five years' digital strategy experience with a strong focus on Search (SEO and PPC), social media, content marketing and website optimisation.
  • Must have advanced skills in Google Analytics and other digital performance tools and reporting systems. Should be able to set up conversion tracking and goals for SEO, PPC, Display and social measurement. eCommerce tracking experience is also required.
  • Should have at least three years’ experience in website content and social media content strategies
  • Must be skilled in project and production management with previous experience having set-up and managed production workflow processes.
  • Must have experience across all digital marketing channels with a thorough understanding of channel selection.


  • Professional communication and client presentation skills; preferred previous experience in presenting to clients from an agency perspective.

  • The ability to handle a crisis or conflict professionally at all times, even under pressured circumstances.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills is required

  • Should be highly organised with the ability to respond to stressful situations quickly and calmly.
