BI Manager  

ENVIRONMENT:
A Cape Town based company requires a BI Manager with a B.Com /B.Sc, 3-5 years in a BI environment plus 2 years BI management experience. Experience in formulating and implementing BI strategy (data warehouse, reporting and analysis), dimensional modelling, SQL and implementing BI front-end tools is required.

DUTIES:
1. Manage and lead a dynamic, and highly motivated team of BI analysts, developers and contractors in delivering and maintaining BI for the business.
2. Responsible for the production and management of BI Applications and Reports.
3. Responsible for BI architecture across the organisation.
4. Control and provide access to BI applications in a seamless manner.
5. Implement standards and security.
6. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all data and information provided to the business.
7. Develop, enhance and adapt BI strategy on an ongoing basis, based on the changing needs and requirements of the business and industry.
8. Strategically align the BI team with an overall view of the company's data, information and analysis requirements.
9. Provide and enable the provision of BI training and support to users on analytical tools.
10. Empower key stakeholders to understand the business data provided through the use of training and BI tools.
11. Engage with business units on an ongoing basis to determine and understand their unique business needs and analytical requirements, prioritise, and formulate the means to meet these requirements.
12. Provide guidance on and/or be actively involved in all projects regarding the BI environment.
13. Understand the business, and the impact of changes to the business from a data and information perspective.
14. Continuous assessment of information delivery, identifying weaknesses and opportunities to improve service delivery.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. B.Com /B.Sc Informatics /Statistics /Computer Science / Mathematics.
2. 3-5 years in a BI environment (preferably in the retail industry).
3. 2+ years BI management experience.
4. Experience in formulating and implementing BI strategy (data warehouse, reporting and analysis).
5. Data warehouse implementation experience / knowledge (from analysis through to implementation).
6. Dimensional modelling.
7. Knowledge of and experience in implementing BI front end tools.
8. SQL Server 2005 experience is an advantage.
9. SQL experience.
10. Business Analyst experience.
11. Sound Business understanding essential.
12. Report writing skills.
