Moose Films is hiring a full-time gear room manager to join our small team, also to manage our gear rental facility.

You will be managing the gear room, the inventory and facilitating gear rental. You will be prepping gear for our shoots as well as for gear rental clients. This includes a range of camera and lighting equipment.

Facilitating gear rental will include prepping and checking gear (camera and lighting equipment) in and out, assisting in clients gear checks, keeping all the equipment maintained, keeping the gear room clean, and facilitating any repairs of equipment. Thorough testing and checks will be done by you when gear is checked in. You will be on standby (sometimes out of our working hours) to help troubleshoot any issues that clients are having with the equipment.

You are the kind of person that cringes when seeing cables are not neatly rolled up, the kind that vacuums a loaders bag until there is not a single grain of beach sand left. You are passionate about film gear, about learning every single aspect of how the gear works. You are able to think on your feet and troubleshoot problems quickly.  You have no problem learning new pieces of software or how to use new equipment.

Some tasks will include building Movi pro rigs, easy rigs, VT rigs, testing Arri Alexa Mini’s and Red Dragons, making sure that the gear is working, updating firmware on everything from teradeks to Arri S-360C Skypanels, cleaning lenses and doing absolutely everything necessary to make sure the gear is ready to shoot. You will have to know how all of the equipment works. You may sometimes be asked to assist camera crew on set.

You are meticulous and handle equipment carefully.

Ideally, you will have had experience dealing with film camera gear and have spent a lot of time in a gear rental house.

Other requirements:

    • Excel - ability to use excel sheets for check-in systems

    • Sourcing - know where to shop for the gear and repair items we need

    • Safety - be aware of requirements of camera, lighting, battery safety.

    • Drivers License

    • Communication - ability to explain to someone how to find things on menus, and how things work, and talk someone through step by step troubleshooting instructions.
