Job description

Participate in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for the Operations Cluster in partnership with Operational Excellence and Cluster Executive. Implementation of people strategy, coaching and significant influence of senior leadership, fostering of strategic business partnering, managing and directing team's execution capabilities. Ensure activities within areas of responsibility revolve around the attraction, development and retention of talent.


Responsibilities:

Development and Execution of HR Operational Strategy and Work plan for Cluster 
  • Ensure Group & Africa HR strategy is interpreted and defined as per Cluster specific requirements 
  • Working with individual BUs, Operations Executive and other stakeholders, evaluate, guide and provide direction to develop people strategies and plans for each BU within cluster 
  • Responsible for leading the development of strong internal talent pools focusing on readiness, quality talent lists, visibility of talent and inclusion of transformation 
  • Responsible for ensuring brilliant HR operational execution across the Cluster 
  • In conjunction with Operations Cluster and Excellence Lead, develop appropriate people strategies to support the operational transformation agenda, e.g. re-defining the future field force 
  • Responsible for ensuring the alignment and execution of people agenda in response to Client feedback & metrics obtained (e.g. NPS feedback) 
  • Guide and lead thinking within the Cluster on appropriate organisational design, (structures, capabilities, capacities) to meet immediate and anticipated growth and expansion of business units within the cluster 
  • Lead and drive implementation of new projects and group initiatives within Cluster such as Time and Attendance, etc. 

Analysis and Interpretation of the external environment and legal compliance
  • Ensure legal compliance to all relevant legislation including but not limited to RSD, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Health and Safety, POPI 
  • Ensure sound operational preparation, planning and execution of contingency measures to manage collective union activity (industrial action etc.) 
  • Direct and advise on execution of a transformation strategy and actions in line with Group strategy 
  • Keep abreast of latest developments, changes etc. in employment laws and compliance requirements 
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and management 
  • Support effective working relationship and support between the BU HR teams and COE’s 
  • Build strong internal and external relationships, displaying excellent abilities to advise, influence, negotiate and make presentations at all levels 
  • Lead by example in building cross-functional partnerships and encouraging teams to take collective accountability 
  • Act as a subject matter expert and consultant to the business 
  • Ensure effective partnering with all centres of excellence to ensure cluster’s requirements are met 

Information Management and reporting
  • Support overall Cluster to ensure that key stakeholders are equipped with reliable and accurate information regarding human capital 
  • Analyse structure in an effort to guide Cluster Head to become more efficient in the use of their resources 
  • Assist with updating and perfecting the HR models in use and ensure best practise is applied 
  • Ensure real-time information of key metrics in area of responsibility 

Effective leadership and people management
  • Through effective inspirational and practical leadership, facilitate the creation of accountable teams who understand and strive to meet the needs of all client and group objectives 
  • Build diversity and create and encourage a delivery-focused culture 
  • Responsible for developing effective WOW within and between BU HR teams and COE’s etc. 
  • Continually inspire, motivate and develop people to understand what is expected of them (co-create a team culture / organisational culture of high accountability) 
  • Take full responsibility for performance of all direct reports, motivating and managing them in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people 


Requirements

  • Relevant Honours degree in HR and or Industrial Psychology
  • 10 - 15 years relevant experience within HR Generalist Environment; 3 years at Senior Management level
