Social Media Coordinator and Content Developer

Small, highly specialised public relations firm with a 25-year track record is looking to bolster our team with a talented, fully qualified social media expert and content developer. The successful applicant will assume responsibility for content management and creation across a number of well-established South African brands, many of which are active in the healthcare and healthcare funding sectors.

The position will suit a creative, presentable and well-spoken individual with excellent social media and English writing skills, enthusiasm and energy. The incumbent must be motivated and be able to work independently, often under pressure and enjoy working in a small, harmonious environment. Experience in video filming and editing is imperative.

A degree or diploma in journalism/communication/marketing/advertising or alternatively, a credible social media qualification is a prerequisite.


A:  Content management and generation

Management and reporting on various social media platforms.

The creation and design of digital content for all major social media platforms.

Creation of videos.

Researching, editing, production, reviewing and writing various content types (tweets, posts, comments etc.) across various social platforms

B:  Design of social media posts

An eye for design and layout and design skills.

A proficiency in the following programmes:
  • Mac OS  
  • Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • iMovie or a similar platform such as LogicPro or FinalCut Pro
  • Microsoft Office Package including Powerpoint and Excel


Additional requirements 

Good people skills and the ability to manage difficult situations with maturity and grace.

The ability to build and sustain a good working relationship with clients.

The ability to demonstrate good time management.

The ability to ensure that key contacts are aware of the status of work in progress at all times and that projects are delivered on deadline.

The ability to ensure that deliverables are of the required standard and are aligned to the strategy of clients.   

A valid drivers licence and own vehicle.

Occasional after hours and weekend work.


Negotiable. Dependent on qualifications, skills and overall experience.
