Executive Director

The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) invites applicants who are suitably qualified to fill the position of the Executive Director at its Head Office in Randburg, Johannesburg.

Job Purpose

To position PRISA as the leading industry representative body by ensuring the effective delivery of the PRISA strategy, managing relationships with members and key stakeholders whilst ensuring adherence to all the regulatory and corporate governance provisions. This role should provide effective leadership that will ensure that the organisation is financially and operationally sustainable.

Primary accountabilities:

Strategic leadership
  • Implementation of the organisation’s strategic mandate
  • Create value for the members
  • Position the organisation within Southern Africa and act as its spokesperson
  • Ensure the organisation’s programmes are appropriately accredited and create strategic alliance with continental and international industry peers
  • Provide oversight of industry compliance on regulations
  • Facilitate the development of the body of knowledge for the industry
  • Ensure operational and financial stability for the organisation
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with stakeholder groups; members (clients), Board, sponsors, academic institutions, alliance industry bodies (local and international), professional associations, regulatory bodies and the state

Qualifications

Education
  • National Diploma in Business Management/Business Administration
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Management/Business Administration is desirable while an MBA will be an added advantage

Professional Designation:  Minimum CPRP Level registration will be an advantage

Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate governance principles (King IV Report)
  • Companies Act/Corporate Law Amendment Act
  • Experience in business development and sponsorship management 
  • Understanding of financial and project management
  • Experience in a public relations and communication management environment
  • Good knowledge ICM industry and relevant accreditation processes and structures
  • Proven skills in strategy development and implementation
  • Excellent people management skills

Experience
  • 10 years of demonstrable business management experience
  • Exposure to public relations/communication/journalism/marketing, to demonstrate an understanding of the organisation’s business will be an advantage
  • Executive/Senior Management work experience, with at least 5 years leading and managing a team is required
