Mugabe puts a spin on a ‘New Sunday Times’

5 May 2004 15:2810 commentsBizLike
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and Namibian President Sam Nujoma have joined hands to start a new regional newspaper called the 'New Sunday Times' to "counter the threat from the global media to African values". The 'New Sunday Times' will, according to reports, be jointly published by the state-run Zimbabwe Newspapers Group (Zimpapers) and Namibia's New Era Publishing Corporation, a company wholly owned by Nujoma's government. The more diplomatic critics quoted have called the project "unsustainable". -- First published in the Cape Times, 6-5-2004

New media order for the liberation movements-

They are adding into the current muck, please lets give them a chance may they`ll get a smug on a last project before they hit the grave. The other reason is that they are setting up a newspaper that is not going to expose palaces and exorbitant lifestyle while the needy are starving. Posted on 18 May 2004 11:42

    Africa's Time?-
Tembani, have you lost your mind, man? Africa is going through a horrible time: war, civil war, famine, poverty, disease etc., and then, on top of all the above disasters, many of the leaders live in utmost luxury, not caring a bit about the suffering of even their own people. Nujoma and especially Mugabe are self-righteous dictators, and seem to be just as delusional as Mussolini and his likes. If you ever get a chance to study European history, you will learn that it's people went through hell and back within the past century or so. Learn from it very quickly if you wish Africa to have anything better. Posted on 8 Dec 2004 00:19
