How do you get started in events/marketing?

How do you get started in events-cordination or marketing?
I have been working as the General Manager of a live music venue in Cape Town. I am a hard-working, responsible, and willing to learn. I have a Diploma in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, and would like to further my studies. I am willing to start anywhere and do just about anything! How does one get started?

Qualify with a Diploma in Communications Management from Vega which specialises in marketing and brand strategy.
The second semester commences on the 30th July and there are still a few spots open. Modules include: Principles of Brand Building, Market Information Management and Media Efficiency in Brand Building to mention a few.
