There's nobody there - called up by the computer

Over the past two days I have been the unfortunate recipient of 2 highly annoying phonecalls. My phone rings - number unknown. I pick up and a 'friendly' voice chimes HELLO!
'Hi' I reply, only to be cut off as A RECORDED VOICE launches into a sales pitch - Do I want cash in a flash?
No, I would like to hit whichever bright spark thought I'd be happy to a) recive an unsolicited CALL to my personal cell phone, b)Actually LISTEN to the recorded message the whole way through.
What did they expect? That I would nod my head happily and thank them for getting in touch with me? I'm pretty strict about stipulating ' no contact' when asked for cell numbers / promotions etc.
I've received ads through sms before, which is annoying enough, but a phone call with a recorded message? If the invasion of privacy and utter waste of time doesn't get to you, the embarrassment of greeting a machine will! Needless to say I terminated both calls pretty quickly - but who's to say that's the end of it?

It won't stop-
Believe me it doesn't end, i've had the same phone call for three solid weeks at the same time every morning, until I got so irrate that I followed the voice prompts and told the real person on the otherside what I was going to do to him with my cell phone if they did not remove me from their contact list. Di
Did it work - did the phone calls stop?-
And if so, please can you give us the phone number, company name or anything you have about them. Posted on 18 Jan 2008 16:59

Me too-
I have exactly the same experience, these guys have been phoning me with their "Do you need cash in a flash" recording for TWO MONTHS now, maybe about 33 calls in total, I told them to never call me again but they just don't give up. Where can one report them? Posted on 20 Feb 2008 09:45
Braindead, indeed!-
It's like these ridiculous email spams as well... I know we all receive them, but what perplexes me is that the senders would sincerely think that anyone actually READS these d*mn things - much less buy the products on offer!! Instead, we must all pay through the nose for anti-spam software (that's pretty much out of date a week later), just to be able to enjoy the email / internet service we're already paying through the other orifice for. Jesus wept. :-( Posted on 27 Dec 2006 16:55
