Magazines who do not hire blacks/coloureds/Indians
With Olouchi stepping forward and putting the media industry of SA under the spotlight – what exactly goes on inside magazines?

Firstly, I am not a moaner or a whiner. I do not believe the media industry owes me anything just because I have graduated. But I would like to point out some facts.

1. Caxton do not hire black South Africans, unless they need to add media 100's and 1000's sprinkles to conform with the media charter-in the form of cleaners or PA'S. Black Journalists? No way.Look at their publications:FOOD AND HOME, WOMEN AND HOME, CLEO, ESSENTIALS, YOUR FAMILY.Lots of 'Tanyas' but no Lebos' or Ayeshas'.Mmmm
2. Look at GLAMOUR, one resident black, Noni Gasa who interviews mainly Black South Africans.
3. What about Marie Claire? Only Black South African there is the cleaner.
4. And Elle? Have you ever seen a black fashionista working at a fashion magazine?

Wake up white editors of SA, do any of you know who Andre Leon Talley is?

Don't let me get started on Femina and Fairlady.

The point I am trying to make is that, is it fair that while so much has changed since the apartheid days, editors do not give black, coloured and indian writers/fashion editors/beauty assistants a chance to enter the industry? Do they perhaps think that only whites know how to read and write.

Take a look at Khanyi Dhlomo and Ferial Haffejee. What great role models for non-white South Africans. Unfortunately most of us do not aspire to be like the Pninas', Angelas' and Jaquies'

According to many people on the last forum.I'm not of the mark.
Racism is rife in the magazine industry.
