Advanced negotiation skills

The Advanced negotiation skills programme is aimed at nurturing greater understanding, skill and confidence in a facilitative, enabling approach to negotiations.

Where the stakes are high, fiscal implications large and the impact of decisions reach far beyond the negotiation table, it is crucial that the senior negotiator possesses a deep confidence in their ability to manage any negotiation process and effectively apply negotiation skill and technique.

The aim of the programme is to transform participants from merely good negotiators, into great negotiators! A clear understanding of the negotiation process and the ability to apply superior skills while building co-operative relationships will ensure outcomes that deliver greater value than originally perceived – a “win-win” result.

Participants will become highly competent in the art of:
• Laying solid negotiation foundations by applying appropriate negotiation strategies including conventional and unconventional negotiation skills and tactics;
• Influencing and persuading through enhanced proficiency in the intra- and interpersonal aspects of negotiations; and
• Harvesting optimal results that are mutually acceptable through the flexible implementation of strategy and systematically reviewing the negotiation situation.

With every endeavor there are conflicting needs, priorities, debate on allocation of scarce resources and deadlines. With every transaction there occurs a negotiation. Where the stakes are high, fiscal implications large and the impact of decisions reach far beyond the negotiation table, it is crucial that the senior negotiator possesses a deep confidence in their ability to manage any negotiation process and effectively apply negotiation skill and technique.

This course is unit standard aligned: NQF Level 5, Credits 8.
