Crime and security issues remain front of mind for citizens, policy makers and law enforcers. Pressing issues relating to the various instances of crime and other threats to security continue to capture headlines.

Crime impacts on individuals and institutions and infringes on the human rights enshrined in the Constitution. Both violent and non-violent crimes have a devastating effect across social and economic groups.

At the African Information Institute's Second Annual African Crime and Security Summit 2009 key role players need to convene to debate the issues at hand. This summit is a forum on the many requirements and challenges of tackling crime and ensuring security. The audience will be comprised of senior level professionals, from a various sectors, who are involved with investigation and prosecution. At this summit, representatives from government, law enforcement agencies, and NGO and community-driven initiatives with discuss strategies for dealing with crime. Professionals from across the continent will meet to exchange ideas, thoughts and strategies.

The themes and topics cover a broad area and promise to form an engaging and stimulating event. Delegates will be exposed to case studies that address the various aspects of an incident. Each delegate will gain an understanding of their role in the process, and see how their work affects the entire procedure.
