Intimate Encounters give patrons the opportunity to experience music for a smaller orchestra in a relaxed, weekend atmosphere. This is another way that the orchestra is reaching out to new audiences and performing lighter music.
The concert programme of 19 August includes Glinka's Jota Aragonesa, Maskowsky's Sinfonietta and Naum Rousine's Cello Concerto. The cello concerto performance is a very special one as it is composed by the KZN Philharmonic's very own resident conductor Naum Rousine and will be performed by the orchestra's principal cellist Boris Kerimov. On 26 August the orchestra will perform John Cage's Construction No.3, Mozart's Symphony No.4 and Dvrorak's Czech's Suite.
