Third annual corporate governance-King III summit

The new King lll Report is out and already effective which goes hand in clove with the New Companies Act, therefore directors and executives from both the private and public sectors will need to get acquainted with the how to apply and explain it accordingly.

The new Companies Act require both public sector and private companies to establish a "social and ethics committee". In the light of King lll Report this can have dramatic implications for companies and good corporate governance. The similarities between the requirements of King lll and the Companies Act cannot be overlooked. Many companies are unaware of the implications of the Act particularly in the area of Social responsibility and ethics.

BA. LLB (Cum Laude) H Dip Tax (Wits), Ph.D (h.c.) in Law (Wits) Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, Honorary Professor in the Department of Marketing and Communication Management at the University of Pretoria.

Peter John Metcalfe is the Founder and currently the Chairman of The Foundation for the Development of Africa (FDA) (NPC).
He is regarded as an expert on issues effecting business in Africa, as such, his contributions are now sought after in many people-driven summits and events.
