Bill Mitchell of The Poynter Institute will assist journalism managers understand their own strengths, needs and opportunities in order to help those they lead produce their best work. Also presenting will be Carol Mitchell, Ph.D., a psychologist who will explore personality and leadership issues.
This four-day program will cover: • Leadership styles; recognising yours and exploring alternatives in order to expand your range of effectiveness. • Performance management; getting the best out of everyone by understanding motivation and consequences. • Coaching skills; how to stop fixing and help others grow. • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; what it can tell you about your own preferences as well as those of others and why that matters. • Conflict resolution and difficult conversations; a practical approach to problems that get in the way of good journalism. Each participant will return to work with a personal development plan to extend the seminar experience and ensure that the learning continues.
