Recession - Proof your consulting practice

A one-day workshop for consultants and professional services providers at which marketing strategies in a downturn will be examined.

"The times they are a changing," Bob Dylan sang. They certainly are with all the signs there that we are entering a possible recession.

Recessionary periods unfortunately do not always bring good tidings for consultants as it is often the time when companies start to revaluating their use of non-essential services such as training, consulting or even PR related services, and many others. Marketing yourself and the value that you bring to the table is even more crucial at this time.

In the book "High-Income Consulting," Tom Lambert writes - "The time to market yourself is when you are fat, dumb and happy."

Learning from him and knowing that consulting is a profession with ebbs and tides, I have created a one-day workshop at which we will examine current consulting marketing techniques and its application to the environmental changes, benchmark and learn from each other what works and develop new strategies that will pull professional practices through - not just the downturn but also position them for future success in years to come.

This workshop will take place on the 26th June at The Days Inn, just off the N1 on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter Street and 14th Avenue (Close to Northcliff and MTN's Head Office).

Research from Japan and the USA shows that the successful companies that weathered the storms actually marketed themselves and spent more on skills development than the average organizations did during the recessionary period.

Perhaps you agree or that we are entering a downturn period, perhaps you disagree. Does it really matter? Should you not review your marketing efforts from time to time?

One day a master was walking across the parade ground when he overheard two people arguing whether the wind was moving or pulling the flag. He walked up to them and said:”It does not matter what the wind is doing, the point is you are thinking!”

Are you ready to rethink your efforts?
