By Leigh Andrews

SA’s One Show 2017 wins and independent communicator connections - Mon, 15 May 2017We start off this week by basking in the reflected dazzle of all of SA's One Show pencils and merit awards. Following Friday night's final award ceremony we have a final tally of 42 wins from 355 entries, broken down as 1 gold (also awarded the ‘best of show' discipline award for radio), as well as 13 bronzes, 1 silver and 27 merit awards, securing us 10th spot overall in the country rankings. Click through to our special section for more insights such as the SA Young Ones jurors' views on how best to enhance SA's creative yield, as well as Ann Nurock's exclusive coverage, live from New York. Congratulations to all - take a deep breath as we prepare for further wins at next month's Cannes Lions!

Keeping that focus on industry leaders, Juanita Pienaar caught up with a handful of the gold award winners at last weekend's Prisa Prism Awards. Click through to find out about their winning work recipes.

Last week also saw the launch of WE Communications' global network of independent, specialist agencies. Called The Plus Network, Jessica Tennant chatted to president Alan VanderMolen and found out that it's rooted in the growing dissatisfaction with holding company agencies and their homogenised offering.

James Hunt speaks of further industry innovation with the rise of the in-house creative agency, with publishers and an ever-increasing number of brands setting up their own in-house studios to service their own marketing needs.

Seems we all need to prepare for disruption or get left behind as the brave ones willing to try something different get set to lead the pack.
