Why everyone is multimedia-focussed - 7 Nov 2016

By Leigh Andrews

Why everyone is multimedia-focussed - Mon, 07 Nov 2016Last week we ran our #FocusonMedia, curated by our trends editor, Louise Marsland. Now's the perfect time to catch up if you missed it, as it offers insight into all the latest media trends, including print media with broadcast elements and digital media with video - this is all one and the same these days, as everyone is multimedia-focussed.

Linked to this, Anne Dolinschek explores the importance of storytelling for brands, stating that you need to evolve or be left behind. You don't even need a big budget to get this right as you can forge that emotional bond with consumers through images, infographics and short social media videos.

Speaking of social media, one of last week's most shared stories across social media was that of Groupon SA's closure. Andy Walker of Memeburn looks into the business reason for this and explains what will happen to any vouchers you've not yet redeemed.

Keeping things upbeat, I continue my weekly feature on those who rose to the top of the Loeries' rankings 2016. All much respected themselves, Joe Public United's Pepe Marais, Roanna Williams and Martin Schlumpf shared who they personally admire in the industry - both an established mentor figure as well as a newcomer making waves.

Lots of food for thought as you get the work-week started...

PS: This week also sees the launch of our #Bizcommunitoon, which will be brought to you weekly by award-winning local cartoonist Jeremy Nell, AKA Jerm. Expect topical business views illustrated in a way that's sure to bring a smile to your face. Enjoy!
