#Loeries2016 celebrates inspirational females this #WomensMonth - Mon, 22 Aug 2016It's no coincidence that the annual local celebration of creativity, the Loeries, takes place during #WomensMonth.

As a result there were a wealth of international female speakers at this year's annual Loeries highlight, the DStv Seminar of Creativity, with audience members hanging onto their pearls of wisdom. Terry Levin reports back on some of her favourite moments that stoked that female creative fire.

A number of well-deserved women were also presented with special awards and accolades over the two Loeries award nights this past weekend. Key among these is the announcement that Nunu Ntshingila, head of Facebook Africa, was inducted into the Creative Hall of Fame - the first female inducted, which is an achievement for the communications industry as a whole. Ann Nurock got the scoop directly from Ntshingila ahead of the announcement.

Another announcement that had the Loeries attendees applauding with gusto: Suhana Gordhan, creative director at FCB Africa, is the new chairperson for the Loeries. Gordhan intends to make advertising more appealing to young female talent in a drive that Beverley Klein is sure will bolster diversity in the industry.

We've also kept our #WomensMonth coverage up-to-date, with the winners of the Fairlady Women of the Future and Rising Star Awards for 2016 announced at an exclusive event last Friday, as well as insight from this week's NewsMaker Abongile Kolisi on her new role as brand ambassador for Chivas Regal at Pernod Ricard.
