Digitising Africa's economiesCongratulations to DDB Middle East & Africa for being crowned Network of the Year at the African Cristal Festival advertising awards, held last week and congrats to all the winners. To attract the attention of consumers these days, brands have to create experiences that consumers can share, says Ogilvy's chief creative officer, Pete Case. These include experiences where the consumer is entertained or informed without overt branding. It's a new world out there for brands and they have to be innovative and embrace new technologies to stay ahead and in touch with their consumers. In fact, Case says, if brands are doing the same things they did last year, they are already destined for failure. A strong warning indeed. Digital adoption and the transformation of Africa's economies through digital integration and innovation is a constant theme in recent times. Rwanda particularly features high as striving for a model digital society. A new United Nations study actually lists 10 ways in which digital economies can be created in Africa. Have a great week!
