Spur's quintessential South African success story

Startup Grind Cape Town's featured guest this month was Allen Ambor, the energetic founder and executive chairman of Spur Corporation. As the quintessential South African restaurant chain turns the big 50 this year, Ambor reflected on its humble beginnings in Newlands and the tough love leadership he demonstrated to his employees.

In other proudly South African news, 42 South African designers are currently exhibiting their merchandise at the renowned BHV/Marais department store in Paris. The exhibition is running until 31 July and was championed by Artlogic, This is Cape Town and Le BHV/Marais to expose international audiences and buyers to SA's creative energy. Viva SA!

Another must-read this week is an opinion piece by TransUnion Africa's CEO Lee Naik, which details how to get to the heart of what Generation Z wants.

And finally, a warm welcome to specialist retail design and shopfitting company Creative Shop, which has just opened a press office on Bizcommunity Retail. Smooth move...
